“Science is the great antidote to the poison of enthusiasm and superstition.” Patricia Churchland
Patricia Churchland is a philosopher noted for her contributions to the philosophy of mind. An eliminative materialist, she claims that talk of mental states will eventually be abandoned in favour of a radically different view to how the brain works.
Patricia was the first to publish using the word ‘neurophilosophy’ and so is considered a neurophilosophy pioneer. Patricia believes that the mind-body problem is not one that will be solved by philosophers, but by neuroscience. However, currently our knowledge of the mind is so elementary that even if a solution were to present itself, it’s likely we would not understand it.
"No one blends philosophy and neuroscience as well as Patricia S. Churchland." Frans de Waal
