“Political correctness is the means by which we try to control others; decency is the means by which we try to control ourselves.”

Theodore Dalrymple is the pen-name for Anthony Malcolm Daniels, a well-loved English cultural critic, prolific writer, satirist, prison physician and psychiatrist. In his critiques, Dalrymple has often been critical of leftist views popular in Western intellectual circles, arguing that they undermine individual responsibility and traditional mores.

He has written for the Times and The Spectator and has written several notable books including Our Culture: What's Left of It and Spoilt Rotten: The Toxic Cult of Sentimentality.
