Ali Allawi is an Iraqi politician and scholar. Over the last twenty years, Allawi has held some of the most important positions in the Iraqi government, serving as Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister and Minister of Defence. He has also worked as a Professor at the University of Oxford, and a visiting Fellow at Harvard.

His writings on Iraq and the Middle East, most famously The Occupation of Iraq and The Crisis of Islamic Civilization, are widely celebrated as some of the most important works in this space.
