Patrick Haggard is a Fellow of the British Academy and Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London. He completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge and then spent three years as a Wellcome Trust prize fellow at the University of Oxford.
Patrick is one of the leading neuroscientists researching the neurological basis of the subjective experience of free will in the world today and is an eminent speaker on the idea that free will is an illusion.
His research focuses on the cognitive neuroscience of voluntary action and the representation of one’s own body and sense of self.
“Patrick demonstrates, with humour and real lab experiments, how we might not be as in control of our decisions as we think we are.” TedX
