“The current coronavirus disease, Covid-19, has been called a once-in-a-century pandemic. But it may also be a once-in-a-century evidence fiasco”
As the co-Director of Meta-Research Innovation Center at Stanford, John Ioannidis studies scientific research itself. John is a Professor of Medicine, of Health Research and of Biomedical Data Science at Stanford University, and is regarded as one of the world's leading contributors to evidence-based medicine, epidemiology, and clinical research.
John's 2005 paper "Why Most Published Research Findings Are False" is the most downloaded paper in the Public Library of Science and is considered foundational to the field of metascience. In the paper, John demonstrates that most published research does not meet good scientific standards of evidence.
He has been a prominent opponent of prolonged lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic.
