Marcus du Sautoy is a leading British mathematician, and Simonyi Professor for the Public Understanding of Science at the University of Oxford. He is the author of many widely read popular mathematics and science books including The Music of the Primes, Thinking Better and his latest Around the World in 80 Games. He is a pioneering researcher in the mathematics of symmetry.
Named by The Independent on Sunday as one of the UK's leading scientists, Sautoy is known for popularising mathematics. He has been a regular contributor to the BBC Radio 4's In Our Time programme and written numerouss articles for The Times and The Guardian.
