"If an AI is a conscious being, forcing it to serve us would be akin to slavery."
Susan Schneider is an American philosopher and cognitive scientist, known for her work on the nature of consciousness, artificial intelligence, and the future of mind. She is the founding director of the Center for the Future Mind at Florida Atlantic University and holds the Baruch S. Blumberg NASA/Library of Congress Chair in Astrobiology, Exploration, and Scientific Innovation.
Schneider is best known for her exploration of post-biological intelligence and the philosophical implications of machine consciousness. In her widely discussed book Artificial You: AI and the Future of Your Mind, she examines whether machines could ever truly possess consciousness, and whether humans should merge with them.
“Schneider makes a vivid and compelling case ... brimming with useful tools for thinking about the mind and its future."— David Chalmers
