Johnny Mercer is a former Veterans Minister, Conservative MP and British Army Captain who served three tours of duty in Afghanistan. After the military, he entered politics to act as a voice for veterans and the armed forces in Parliament. he used his time in office to aid veterans in their access to healthcare, mental health support and housing, as well as fighting the criminal prosecution of soldiers in Iraq and Northern Ireland.
After percieved failings by Boris Johnson over veterans Johnny resigned on principle from his role as Parliamentary Secretary of State for Defence, People and Veterans. He was later re-appointed to the role as Minister for Veterans, which was then a cabinet position. After being removed by Liz Truss he was reappointed to the role again by Rishi Sunak.
