“The market under capitalism is different because you don’t just choose to participate in it—you have to take part in it to survive."
Bhaskar Sunkara launched the magazine Jacobin while still a student in college. The publication quickly became one of the most prominent socialist magazines in the world, bridging the academic left and the activist base with accessible, sharp-edged commentary. Under Sunkara's leadership, Jacobin helped shape the intellectual infrastructure of the Bernie Sanders base of 2016 and 2020.
Sunkara is currently the president of The Nation, the oldest continuously published weekly magazine in the United States. He is a former vice-chair of the Democratic Socialists of America and the author of The Socialist Manifesto.
