Dean Moyar is Professor of Philosophy and Director of Graduate Studies at Johns Hopkins University. He is the author of 'Hegel's Conscience' and 'Hegel's Value: Justice as the Living Good'. He is currently working on an edited volume on Moby-Dick for the Oxford Studies in Philosophy and Literature series.

He works on German Idealism, social and political philosophy, practical reason, philosophy and literature, and the history of 19th century thought, as well as American transcendentalism.
