Timothy Morton is a professor and Rita Shea Guffey Chair in English at Rice University. A member of the object-oriented philosophy movement, Morton's work explores the intersection of object-oriented thought and ecological studies.

Morton has published numerous books including 'Dark Ecology: For a Logic of Future Coexistence', 'The Ecological Thought' and 'Hyposubjects: On Becoming Humane'. They have collaborated with several artists and produced TIME TIME TIME, an opera commissioned by the Serpentine Gallery, which explored the multiplicity of temporalities at the heart of being human.
