Nick Lane is a British biochemist and outstanding science communicator, asking the difficult question: what is the origin of life? He is a Professor of Evolutionary Biochemistry at University College London as well as a bes-tselling author of five critically-acclaimed books on evolutionary biochemistry. His books have sold over 150,000 copies worldwide and have been translated into 25 languages. His most recent book Transformer: The Deep Chemistry of Life and Death explores the elusive chemical logic of life, from genetic information to consciousness.

Amongst other prizes, he was awarded the 2015 Biochemical Society Award, the 2016 Royal Society Michael Faraday Prize, and Lecture, the UK’s premier award for excellence in communicating science.
