Joanna Wolfarth is the author of Milk: An Intimate History of Breastfeeding. Previously visiting lecturer in Southeast Asian Art at SOAS, University of London, she now teaches History of Art at The Open University. Her research has explored the interactions between pre-modern and contemporary visual cultures via questions of archive, citation, materiality and power.
Wolfarth has written and spoken publicly about the nature of motherhood and how it has evolved over the centuries. Her book on the history of breastfeeding was highly lauded in The Sunday Times and many other publications.
