Duncan Potts is a retired Vice Admiral of the Royal Navy, where he was the Director of the Joint Force Development. Before this, he was the commander of NATO's High Readiness Force and the EU's counter-piracy operations in the Indian Ocean at the height of Somali Piracy. He has commanded HMS Brilliant, Southampton and Marlborough and coalition forces in the Northern Gulf region of Iraq during the conflict.
Since leaving the Royal Navy, Duncan has become the director of Universal Defence and Security Solutions consultancy, chair of the Public Weather Service Customer Group and President of the Royal Naval Association.
