Laurie Penny is a journalist, author, and screenwriter whose writing on feminism, power, and politics has made them one of the most distinctive and provocative voices on the British left. Penny is a contributing editor at the New Statesman and regular contributor to The Guardian, The Spectator, and The New York Times.
Penny is the author of seven books, including Sexual Revolution: Modern Fascism and the Feminist Fightback, Cybersexism: Sex, Gender and Power on the Internet, and Bitch Doctrine: Essays for Dissenting Adults, which was longlisted for the 2018 Orwell Prize. Their blog Penny Red, launched in 2007, was shortlisted for the Orwell Prize for blogging in 2010. As a screenwriter, Penny has worked for HBO, Netflix, and Amazon, with credits including The Haunting of Bly Manor and The Nevers.
