"Consciousness’ is not a measurable property; it is, quite literally, imponderable."

David Bentley Hart is an American philosopher, theologian, and essayist, and one of the most formidable critics of scientific materialism. He argues that consciousness, reason, and the very existence of the world cannot be explained by physical processes alone.

The author of twenty-four books and over a thousand essays, including The Beauty of the Infinite and Atheist Delusions, Hart has taught at Duke, Virginia, and Notre Dame, where is a collaborative research scholar.  His recent book, All Things Are Full of Gods: The Mysteries of Mind and Life, presents a philosophical case against materialist accounts of mind.

"The culmination of decades of argument against … all reductive accounts of human consciousness." — Ross Douthat, New York Times
