Kweku Sackey is a multi-dimensional creative force, blending shamanistic live performance with fierce raps, perfectly on-pitch vocals, and incredible dance moves. A true storyteller, he uses English, Pidgin, and Ga to paint sonic pictures that reach deep into the souls of everyone ready to listen.
Born in Accra and based in Sheffield, Kweku draws on a vast lineage ranging from Tom Waits and Bob Marley to Ebo Taylor. This openness has fueled a prolific run of collaborations with artists like Guts, Nubiyan Twist, Congo Natty, and Zed Bias. Whether leading the afro-futurist project Onipa or his own hi-life/funk outfits, his music remains a vital bridge between African and Western influences.
From Glastonbury’s West Holts to Zanzibar, Germany, and more, and even performing for Nelson Mandela’s family, K.O.G’s reach is global. With a new album released in late 2024 and recent performances on Later… with Jools Holland, he continues to negotiate the space between the traditional and the modern.
