The Real Gandhi Behind the Western Myth

Divya Dwivedi
Gandhi’s philosophy of nonviolence appears beyond reproach: a selfless, universal politics of peace. Yet, what if this is deeply misleading? Join author of Gandhi and Philosophy, Delhi professor Divya Dwivedi, as she argues that beneath its apparent moral authority, Gandhi's thought not only failed to challenge the caste system, but actively upheld it. Drawing on a tradition of Indian dissent that stretches back to Ambedkar, Gandhi's low-caste political rival now revered in India, Dwivedi exposes how Gandhi's thought was an anti-politics that propped up a vicious hierarchy that condemned millions to permanent servitude and exploitation.
