Sebastian Rödl is a German philosopher and one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary European philosophy. Rödl's work focuses on the nature of human thought and self-consciousness. His book Self-Consciousness and Objectivity: An Introduction to Absolute Idealism, published by Harvard University Press, aims to transform our understanding of self-consciousness and its place in the world.

Rödl is Professor at the University of Leipzig. He has also been Visiting Scholar at the Department of Philosophy at UC Berkeley.
