Edward Bullmore is a neuropsychiatrist, neuroscientist, and academic who has spent much of his career exploring the physical roots of psychiatric conditions. Most notably, his work challenges the traditional divide between body and mind, demonstrating how an overactive immune system and inflammatory biomarkers can be linked to depression and early childhood trauma.

Bullmore has been a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge since 1999 and served as the Head of the Department of Psychiatry between 2014 and 2021. He also acts as the Clinical Director of the Behavioural & Clinical Neuroscience Institute. He is the author of several publications, including Fundamentals of Brain Network Analysis and his most popular book, The Inflamed Mind: A Radical New Approach to Depression.
