Aubrey de Grey
"I think it's reasonable to suppose that one could oscillate between being biologically 20 and biologically 25 indefinitely.”
Aubrey de Grey is a pioneer of longevity science and a biomedical gerontologist whose work has transformed the debate around human ageing. Best known as the founder of the SENS (Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence) approach to rejuvenation biotechnology, he is currently President and Chief Science Officer of the Longevity Escape Velocity Foundation, where he leads research aimed at preventing and reversing age-related damage.
He is the author of the books Ending Ageing and The Mitochondrial Free Radical Theory of Ageing. Admired by supporters as a visionary and criticised by sceptics as overly ambitious, he has forced scientists, philosophers, and policymakers alike to confront one of humanity's oldest questions: must we grow old?
"There's something of the Old Testament prophet about Aubrey de Grey." — The Guardian
