"Nothing we experience is a direct transmission from the body, it is our subjective interpretation."
Camilla Nord is Group Leader at the University of Cambridge, MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, and Director of Studies in Psychological and Behavioural Sciences at Christ's College Cambridge. Her work has received various accolades - from the Association for Psychological Science ('Rising Star'), European Society of Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience ('Young Scientist Award'), and Brainbox ('Young Investigator Award').
Nord is currently particularly interested in understanding the overlap between homeostatic processes in the brain and body and mental health disorders, and has written a groundbreaking book on mental health, which is coming out in September 2023 with Penguin. Her research has already contributed to interventions that target disrupted body-brain processes across a number of mental health conditions.
"Simply brilliant. This is science writing at its best. If you want to understand mental health - really understand it - read this book." Nichola Raihani
