"We can't afford to wait two years, five years, 10 years - this is the moment!"
Alok Sharma is a Conservative MP, and the former President for COP26, Secretary of State for International Development and Minister of State for Housing. He has been a vehement defender of the net zero target and even threatened to resign if the incoming Sunak government watered down the target. Through his presidency of the COP26 conference, he was able to help obtain the widest reaching climate agreement ever signed.
Alongside his climate activism, Alok has campaigned for greater emphasis on international development, free school meals, and global equity. Since leaving the cabinet, he was awarded a knighthood and has become a leading conservative voice in defence of the climate.
"Alok Sharma has one of the best reasons in the world to fly." Mike Berners-Lee, Professor of Environmental Science, University of Lancaster
