Catherine Hermans is the Astronomer Royal for Scotland, Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Edinburgh and Director of the German Centre for Cosomological Lensing at the Ruhr-University. Working at the forefront using weak gravitational lensing to investigate the Dark Universe, Heymans is one of the leaders of the European Southern Observatory project, and was awarded the Max Planck-Humboldt Research Award in 2018.
