Samson Kambalu is a trailblazing artist,  author and academic. Working across a variety of mediums, his works span sculpture, video, performance and literature, influenced by Sitatuationsim as well as traditions derived from his native Malawi. His award-winning artwork, ‘Antelope’ has been selected as the next to occupy the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square in central London from September 2022 until 2024.

Kambalu is a leading researcher, and associate professor of fine art at Ruskin College. He is also a fellow at Magdalen College, Oxford University. As a critically acclaimed writer, Kambalu’s first novel, The Jive Talker or How to Get A British Passport,  was awarded Winner of the National Book Tokens ‘Global Reads’ Prize in 2010.
