Former ambassador to Russia and Afghanistan, Laurie Bristow is one of the UK's most seasoned diplomats and foregin affairs specialists. He was in the front line in the 2018 Skripal poisinings, having 'difficult conversations' with the Russian governement about deterrence.
More recently, as Kabul fled to the Taliban in 2021, Bristow remained at Kabul's airport personally processing visa applications of British and Afghan nationals. A few months ago he recently became President of Hughes Hall Cambridge as a recognition of his distinguished career.
