David Livingstone Smith is an interdisciplinary philosopher and author working on the philosophy of psychology and morality. His work delves deeply into the realms we are too afraid to unpack: histories of genocide, dehumanisation and war. He is concerned with theories of human nature and ideology, as well as the mysterious realm of self-deception. His latest book is Making Monster: The Uncanny Power of Dehumanization. David Smith was the winner of the 2012 Anisfield-Wolf Book Award for non-fiction and was a speaker at the 2012 G20 Economic Summit. He is currently a professor of philosophy at the University of New England.
