"The world we live in is ruled by insiders."

Yanis Varoufakis is a Greek economist and politician, who served as Greek minister of Finance from January to July 2015 in the midst of Greece's debt crisis. His principled opposition to externally imposed austerity measures gained him much publicity, and he reflected on his interactions with Europe's establishment in the 2017 memoir Adults in the Room: My Battle with Europe's Deep Establishment.
In February 2016, Varoufakis launched the Democracy in Europe Movement 2025 (DiEM25), a pan-European political movement that seeks to redemocratise Europe from within, and whose advisory board includes the likes of John McDonnell and fellow HTLGI speaker Slavoj Zizek.
