Tony Milligan is a philosopher, and currently a teaching fellow in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at King’s College London.
Since defending his PhD thesis, entitled ‘Iris Murdoch’s Romantic Platonism’, much of Milligan’s work has been influenced by Murdoch’s ethical writings. He writes principally on the concept of love, animal ethics, civil disobedience, and outer space policy; Milligan has urged sustainable behaviour on the part of space programmes keen to mine the solar system’s bountiful reserves of iron, and argued for the recognition, and preservation, of extraterrestrial sites of natural beauty.
