Rebecca Roache is Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at Royal Holloway, University of London. Her research interests range from ethics and metaphysics to philosophy of mind and philosophy of language. She has developed a philosophy of swearing, in which she puts forward the suggestion that swear words are forceful because the audience knows that the swearer knows that the audience will find the swear word offensive.
Born in Pembrokeshire, South Wales, Roache's academic tenure began at the Future of Humanity Institute at Oxford. She is a novelist, an active twitter user, and a keen knitter.
