David King is an Emeritus Professor in physical chemistry at Cambridge University, known for his interventions in climate change policy. He served as Chief Scientific Adviser in the ministries of Blair and Brown, raising awareness of the urgency of implementing reform to tackle climate change  and helping to establish the Energy Technologies Institute, a high-profile research body. He was the Foreign Secretary's Special Representative for Climate Change from 2013 to 2017.
King strongly supports nuclear electricity generation as an interim measure while lower-carbon alternatives are in development.
