David Healy is a pharmacologist, historian, and professor of psychiatry at Bangor University. He has published influentially on the side effects of antidepressant medicines and the conflict of interest arising from pharmaceutical companies’ funding of medical journalism.
Healy’s most recent work, Pharmageddon, portrays the American medicine industry as dominated by pharmaceutical giants who market diseases and co-opt the authority of academics and journalists for their own gain. He is the founder and CEO of Data Based Medicine Limited, which through its online platform, RxISK.org, publishes direct reports of drug experiences by patients to tackle disinformation.
