Andrew Adonis is a Labour politician, journalist and academic. Serving in the ministires of both Blair and Brown, he was Minister for Education under Blair before assuming the roles of Minister for Transport (2008) and Transport Secretary within the Cabinet (2009) under Brown.

A onetime History Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford, Adonis has penned several studies on British history including examinations of the British class system and the Victorian House of Lords.

He has been an outspoken Remainer since the 2016 referendum on EU membership, condemning Brexit as a "populist and nationalist spasm" and attending the launch event of the People's Vote campaign.
