"A troubled brain cannot be considered in isolation from the social universe" ~ Richard Bentall
Richard Bentall is a Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Sheffield whose books include Madness Explained and Doctoring the mind. He is best known for his research into psychosis, hallucinations and paranoid delusions, and his career-long challenges to the psychiatric consensus.
Richard has often been compared to the radical psychiatrist RD Laing, but has said "I can't work out whether to be flattered or appalled. I think of myself as a fairly hard-nosed empirical scientist and a pragmatic clinician".
