"Real science is desperately hard work; the paranormal is almost entirely the fruit of armchair fantasizing."

Peter Atkins FRSC is an English chemist, outspoken atheist, and author of works of popular science such as Atkins' Molecules.

Having left school at fifteen to join agribusiness giant Monsanto as a lab assistant, Peter taught himself A-level chemistry, gained a place at Leicester University, and went on to gain a doctorate for his research into electron spin resonance spectroscopy. A Distinguished Supporter of Humanists UK, Peter is outspoken in his opposition to religion. He argues that religion involves a lack of confidence in human powers of comprehension, encouraging us to be satisfied with ignorance instead of striving to understand the universe.

Peter comes to HowTheLightGetsIn to defend a physicalist world-view in The Limits of Material.
