Helen-Ann Hartley is an Anglican bishop and academic, and the first woman who trained and served as a priest to be ordained a bishop in the Church of England. Hartley previously served as Bishop of Waikato in New Zealand from 2014 to 2017. Her recent works include Thinking About the Bible, which likens Christianity’s holy book to a sculpture which needs to be seen from all angles instead of taken at face value. She comes to the festival to argue for the importance of neighbourly love.
