"On the surface, I’m quite nice – but underneath, I’m no longer tame." ~ Doon Mackichan
Doon Mackichan is a comedian and actor, best known for writing and starring in Channel 4 comedy Smack the Pony, the sketch show in which Doon and fellow female comics poked fun at everything from irritating flatmates to people who pretend to be ill to get special treatment. Doon's also starred in satirical news show The Day Today and spoof current-affairs show Brass Eye.
After studying drama at Manchester University, Doon began campaigning actively against violence against women, disturbed by the sight of "porn bleeding into entertainment". She has since pointed out the eery prevalence of rape in mass cultural phenomena such as Game of Thrones. Most recently she played Cathy in the BBC comedy Two Doors Down, Feste in the Royal National Theatre's Twelfth Night, and the Archangel Michael in Good Omens.
"A lot of people, perhaps most, say they don’t care what people think, but Doon Mackichan has the charisma of genuine nonchalance." ~ Zoe Williams, The Guardian
