You cannot use tickets from other HowTheLightGetsIn festivals to access HowTheLightGetsIn May 2021.
Can I use my ticket to watch recordings of the events after the festival is over?
Festival tickets enable you to view events only while they are live, so plan your itinerary carefully. However, we offer tickets with a trial subscription to IAI.tv. IAI.tv is the festival's sister platform which hosts recordings of HowTheLightGetsIn Festival debates.

At HowTheLightGetsIn and our affiliated sites, we collect different types of information about our users for four main reasons:

To sell sponsorship and advertising space on the site to selected partners. This helps us to keep the site free for people who visit it.

To process transactions
Certain services that we provide may involve us collecting extra information (IAI Friends memberships, for example), such as where you are, so the service can be provided as designed.
The minimum information we need to register you is your name, email address and a password. We will ask you more questions for different services such as HowTheLightGetsIn ticket sales. Unless we say otherwise, you have to answer all the registration questions.
We may also ask some other, voluntary questions during registration for certain services (for example, your profession) so we can gain a clearer understanding of who you are. This also allows us to personalise our services and offering for you.
After you have registered, and with your permission, we may send you emails we think may interest you. Newsletters may be personalised based on what you have expressed interest in or content that you have accessed on our sites. At any time you can decide not to receive these emails and will be able to ‘unsubscribe’.
Logging in using social networking credentials
If you log-in to our sites using a Facebook log-in, you are granting permission to Facebook to share your user details with us. This will include your name, email address, date of birth and location which will then be used to form an IAI TV account. You can also use your picture from Facebook as part of your profile. This will also allow us and Facebook to share your, networks, user ID and any other information you choose to share according to your Facebook account settings.
If you log-in to our sites using a Google log-in, you grant permission to Google to share your user details with us. This will include your name, email address, date of birth, sex and location which we will then use to form an IAI TV identity. If you remove the IAI TV from your Google settings, we will no longer have access to this information.
Use of Children’s Data
We do not knowingly collect or store any personal information about children under the age of 16 and we do not offer any of our products or services directly to children under the age of 13. Registration to the site requires confirmation that you are aged 13 or above, or have the consent of your parent or a person holding parental responsibility.
Updating Your Personal Information
We offer a ‘My details’ page (also known as Email Preferences page), where you can update your personal information at any time, and change your marketing preferences. You can get to this page from most pages on the site – click on the ‘My account’ link at the top of the screen when you are signed in.
We will not share your personal information with others for marketing purposes unless you have given us your permission. If we have your permission, we will share your information only with other organisations we have chosen carefully.
If you are an IAI Friend and attend an event organised by an event partner, data may be shared for event administration purposes.
We can access and release personal information to keep to relevant laws and government requests, to operate our systems properly and to protect both us and our users.
Any other organisations who access your information in the course of providing services on our behalf will be governed by strict contractual restrictions to make sure that they protect your information and keep to data-protection and privacy laws which apply. We may also independently audit these service providers to make sure that they meet our standards. We may use service providers to help us run these sites (or services available on the sites), some of whom may be based outside the EEA.
Some of our webpages use plug-ins from other organisations (such as the option to register through Facebook). This ticket is issued by TVF Limited on behalf of the Institute of Art and Ideas, henceforth the "organisers", and is subject to the terms and conditions indicated on this ticket or displayed at the "venue", the Globe at Hay. Purchasers should note that this ticket is sold by the organisation responsible for the event.
Purchase and possession of a ticket signifies agreement to the following conditions:
1. This ticket is issued subject to the rules and regulations of the organisation, operators and management of the venue.
2. Every person entering the event must have a valid ticket.
3. Ticket holders are required to carefully check their tickets in advance of their visit; mistakes may not be rectified on the day.
4. The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry of the ticket holder to the event site. Customers found to be causing damage to the site, the site infrastructure, causing harm to any other person on site or in breach of these conditions will be subject to prosecution.
5. The organisers reserve the right to search all persons and personal property and refuse admission to, or eject from, the site any person who refuses to be searched by a security official.
6. This ticket is not transferable. No money will be refunded or tickets exchanged after purchase unless the event is cancelled. In the event of cancellation, the promoter’s sole obligation and liability shall be to offer a ticket for an alternative performance by the relevant artist, if available, or a full refund of the face value of this ticket. No other claims will be entertained. You will be contacted directly about cancellations at the email address used for your booking. Any questions about your claim should be directed to email@example.com.
7. No duplicate tickets or wristbands will be issued in the event of loss.
8. Admission to the site and performance is at the ticket holder’s own risk. Neither the promoter nor the site management shall be held liable for any injury or damage sustained within the site.
9. Ticket holders give their express consent to the use of their actual or simulated likeness in connection with the production, exhibition, advertising or exploitation of any film, video and/or audio recording of this event and/or any element thereof in any/all media throughout the world. This includes filming by the police or security which may be carried out for the security of customers.
10. The event promoter reserves the right to make any change whatsoever to the act programme owing to any unforeseen or unavoidable cause.
11. Neither the venue nor the organisation can accept responsibility for lost or stolen property.
12. The possession of this ticket shall constitute an acceptance by the holder of these conditions and imply an undertaking on the part of the holder to observe them. In the event of any breach of these conditions, the event promoter reserves the right to cancel this ticket and retain any monies paid theretofore.
13. Other than the provisions advertised or outlined by the box office at the time of sale, customers are required to address any special needs by contacting the box office in advance of their visit, as the event promoter may not be able to provide those needs without notice.
14. We do not store credit card details nor do we share customer details with any 3rd parties.
15. Paper lanterns shall not be brought onto or used on the festival site under any circumstances.

If you have normal settings enabled in your browser, you will be able to access our live events whether you are using Safari, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge or any other browser. However, in case you have settings on that you do not know about, we recommend that you download a backup browser for use in the event of any problem. For instance, if you have Internet Explorer, download Chrome or Firefox for the duration of the festival.
For a proper festival experience, please enjoy the festival on browser instead of mobile - the festival site is too spectacular to fit on a smartphone screen.

There is no requirement to download Zoom - you can watch all of our debates without Zoom -but we recommend that you download Zoom if possible because it will enable your social festival experience.
If you have not used Zoom before, we recommend making a test call with friend to make sure your audio and sound are working.
