Monica Black is Professor of Modern Europe at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, focusing on how National Socialism engulfed all aspects of German life till 1945. Her work aims to understand the formation and defense of 'moral worlds' which determine our sense of right and wrong. The questions which animate her work are existential and epistemic, a thinker not concerned with the ready-made archives of most academic study. Her insights about the worst aspects of progress inspire and push us to do better now!
