Appearing in: Guesses, Errors and Economics

‘A fairer system bases itself on actual outcomes’

John McDonnell is the Labour MP for Hayes and Harlington; a position he has held since 1997. A leading figure within Jeremy Corbyn’s Shadow Cabinet, John held the position of Shadow Chancellor and sought to become the ‘first socialist Labour Chancellor’.

His radical vision for the economy consisted in increasing spending on infrastructure and research; an approach which John himself described as ‘Socialism with an iPad’. John previously served as chair of the Socialist Campaign Group, and remains a key figure on the left side of the Labour Party.
