Barry C Smith is a philosophy professor, director of the Institute of Philosophy at the University of London’s School of Advanced Study, and is on the advisory board for the Institute of Art and Ideas. He also co-directs the Centre for the Study of the Senses. In 2010 he wrote and presented a four-part series for the BBC World Service called The Mysteries of the Brain and in 2017.
Barry has a passion for wine, and at past festivals has hosted fantastic wine tasting events, incorporating his work on the multisensory nature of experience into the event. He is a frequent contributor to The World of Fine Wine and wine columnist for Prospect Magazine.
